First Blogaversary

Happy Blogaversary to Me! 😀

Realist Rebel’s Perception completes one year. Cant believe its been a whole year! 2nd Jan 2015, the first post on this blog was made. I have made it this far somehow, a big thank you to all my readers and also a very happy new year 2016 to everyone. 🙂 🙂

Although I know I have not been active since September so feels like I gotta start afresh. But the first 6 months on this blog were a great big experience that I’m gonna cherish forever.

Looking forward to resume my journey here and hopefully will manage to entertain you guys a bit as well (if I get over my writer’s block!).

Until next time,

Much Love,

– Realist Rebel

Classic Bob Everyday

“Beautiful day to walk in the garden.” Bob seemed to think when he jumped up at me at 6 in the morning. Bob likes to give surprises as much as he loves to receive them. Bob who? Oh I didn’t tell you? Bob is my dog. Bob is a sweetheart. We got him from the pound. Everybody there used to call him that so we decided we will keep the name. He loves to hear his name too.

“Ok ok I’m up. Stop making a mess Bob.” At last, I gave in. “Don’t know what possessed this dog today, so much energy?” I thought.

“Out of the room now. I’m coming. Stay away from the study table or else you’ll spill the ink…” And it’s already done.

Bob ran out of the room; he knew he would get a scolding otherwise.

10 minutes later, I had to let him out. He was continuously barking at the door and the window alternately.

Must be the mail man. Bob hates that guy. Once he chased the mail man around the block for an hour. The mail man wears skates now.

I let him out and then went to the kitchen to get some food for both of us.

Thankfully there were some left over pan-cakes. I reheated them and ate them with maple syrup.

“Better wash this plate or else Bob would come looking for it.” I told myself.

After taking some dog-food for him, I went outside to check the mail box. But it was empty. And Bob was still barking at frequent intervals.

“Look at you sitting here comfortably. Why are you barking at the tree? Yeah you wont tell I know. Classic Bob.”

After looking around a bit, I finally spotted a Blue-Jay bird sitting on the middle branch.

“Oh boy! That bird is so gorgeous! Been a while, haven’t spotted one of these in a long time. Come on Bob, leave the Blue-Jay alone. The poor bird will not steal your food!”

Ok, time’s up. Otherwise, I was gonna tell you about The Big Bang Theory Episode where Sheldon is afraid of birds (Blue-Jay was at his window.) Sheldon tried to scare the bird away by making cat sounds and drawings. Then tries to keep it as a pet but it eventually flies away.

In this story, I was gonna tell you, Bob would have been compared to Sheldon, which Bob doesn’t like and when he is still not able to scare the bird away, I would have said: “I knew I should’ve gotten a cat.” 😉

Yeah, and Bob Cat sounds so much better than Bob Dog, doesn’t it? 😀

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “A Dog Named Bob.”
Challenge: You have 20 minutes to write a post that includes the words mailbox, bluejay, plate, syrup, and ink. And one more detail… the story must include a dog named Bob.

Friendships, Feelings And More

“It’s all about Trust.
Sharing your feelings with friends…
To say or not to say???”
– Realist Rebel

There are many friendships which go way beyond the usual hunky-dory hang outs and chilling together. Most people are of the category who have back-ups for their necessary outgoing “social life”. Can we really call them “friends”??

Maybe those are the kind who are known as a “fair-weathered friend”.

There is another kind. Who come a little far from the previous type. The expression “a friend in need is a friend indeed”, probably got inspired from them.

And then there are some, very rare species these days, friends who have a connection. A real one. Who can really understand what the other is saying or not saying. Such friendships, if found, must be treasured for life.

Some people talk a lot yet say very little.

They will go on and on, just incessantly blabbering away about everyday nothings and never truly reveal what they are feeling. Such people are either hiding something or they don’t trust you enough to talk about personal stuff.

Some people talk less yet manage to say a lot.

They remain quiet usually. But when they talk everything makes sense. They wont directly reveal their feelings but if you listen closely, you might just be able to figure out.

Yup there are other kinds too. Talk and say a lot at the same time or do neither!

Well, the neither case would be extreme but, you never know… Some people just prefer to remain silent altogether. Usually they do it around the people they don’t trust at all. Not even a bit.

And then there are people who are a mixture of the above mentioned types!!

Maybe I’m the mixture kind! 😀

But honestly, I feel this has got more to do with the person I’m talking to rather than what kind of a person I am, which decides how and what am I gonna talk about with them.

eg. I will truly reveal my feelings (most of it) only when I trust the other person and believe that they really care and bother to hear me out! (And not because they need some material for gossip…yeah BEWARE of THAT type! Seriously.)

I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do or not, maybe it’s right for me or whatever! But this is what I do, this is what I am. I trust my gut feeling and instincts or intuition or anything you wanna call it, and just go with it.

When someone shares their feelings, I respect that person and if they are telling something in confidence (like a secret), never ever break their trust.

I love my friends (the few true friends I have) and I really do treasure them.

When they tell me how they feel (however direct or indirect) it feels good that they trust me. And when I share my feelings, it feels good that I have someone who cares.

Cheers to friendship!

I hope everyone has a friend they can be themselves with.

And is the same type as you are! 😛 (You should be so lucky!!)

Much Love,

– Realist Rebel ❤

I’m thinking about which letter to choose.

It took a while for me to realise the choice has already been made!

I’m kidding.

I realised it sooner. 😀

It was obvious. (even the last line starts with I automatically, you’ll see.)

I is probably the most probable letter to be chosen for this stupid prompt.

I mean, seriously, what were you thinking?!

I’m kidding again!

It’s a great prompt.

It just made my day.

If only I could make a better post with it.

I will work on that.

It doesn’t make any sense now?

I know.

It’s been a pleasure talking to you.

Interesting choice of words.

Inability to start the sentence with big words?

I think…

I proved my point.

I surrender.

Incessant, meaningless monologue/chatter ends…?

I feel your pain after reading this too.

Idea for the ideal ice-breaker….

I doubt, but it was not so bad.

I don’t think so!

Idea failed?

I gotta go.

It’s been a pleasure. _/\_

I had fun, let’s do this again!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Fearful Symmetry.”

Truth Behind “Moved On”

There are different things that different people want from us. It’s up to us to decide who is worth all the trouble. On the contrary, finding out what we really want, is precisely the most important and most tedious task to be accomplished.

Always heard about guiding Angels and guiding Light that lead us and show us the way to get through the difficulties we are facing. But in reality, one day we wake up and see what we have been looking for doesn’t even exist! Then nothing and nobody can help. Being here in this world alone and facing every problem with a brave and positive attitude is what we need to do just about every day. I mean, we can’t deny this fact that someday we need to give up on “fairy tale” happy ending myths; and the belief of “prince charming” sweeping you off your feet….. ain’t really gonna happen that way! Barring a few exceptions of course, but let’s get real.

When the time comes to face the reality, everything is supposed to change; but obviously it doesn’t. There is no magic wand that would change everything as quickly as we wish it to. Yet somehow, we forget – forget that amidst all the growing up, moving on and facing reality, there remains a part inside us which still wants and craves for the things we wanted; exactly the way we wanted them – the perfect way.

Yes, the reality check here would be to search ourselves, look within to find out the truth behind the crap, “oh chill! I have moved on man!” – What can be the truth? Is it so easy to move on? Even if it’s not, yet somehow most of us get there. But later don’t really bother to see deep down and realize just how much we got hurt in the process. The feelings which were curbed down, the thoughts that were brushed aside, the memories which were sacked and pushed in the corner, the emotions that were tied down and the desires which were brutally killed – altogether did the damage that they could to the heart and the soul which eventually stopped living.

Moving on is not a joke. It’s neither easy nor difficult. It’s basically the only choice left when someone leaves or we leave someone. Yes it applies in both cases. Anybody saying otherwise would be lying.

Also, the duration for moving on varies for people. Time required to finally get over someone, can’t be estimated. But one thing is for sure, 100% recovery isn’t done when you think it’s done. There are times in our lives, when we can really surprise ourselves. There can be a possibility that we may realize that all this time we didn’t really move on; we only thought we did. Just not giving the same amount of attention to that person anymore in our lives doesn’t mean that we don’t want those things anymore which we always wanted. People make mistakes, poor judgments, unrealistic expectations, but hey, it can’t always work as one sided! A relationship has to be a two-way street at all times. Even if a person is supporting the other, it can only work if the latter is willing to accept it. Otherwise it would be like banging your head against a wall and you’ll only end up hurting yourself.

There is nothing wrong in (still) wanting the things we craved for earlier. Moving on only says that we are strong enough to let go. It doesn’t mean the end of the world or end of love and relationships.  Some things and people are just not meant to be with us. Maybe they belong with someone else, maybe it’s not the right timing or maybe it’s something else. That is part of life. I’m not saying that it shouldn’t have happened since everything happens for a reason. Besides, it’s an integral part of growing up and being mature about things; all this without losing faith and hope. So rather than just saying “moved on”, we should really do move on with life and live it the way we want; without worrying about anybody else. After all, we get only one life; make every moment count.

The Blog Tour Award

I was nominated by Piyush Singh for the Blog Tour Award. Thank you so much for this. This award is something different than the others, basically to help bloggers connect with readers. And for fellow bloggers to understand you better. I think this is a great way!

1. Pass the tour on up to four other bloggers.
2. Give them the rules and a specific Monday to post.
3. Answer four questions about your creative process which lets other bloggers and visitors know what inspires you to do what you do.
4. Compose a one-time post on a specific Monday (date given from your nominator).

My Answers:

Currently I’m working on 2 short stories. The End…? and The Danger Sign. Their next parts would be posted soon.
Also trying to revert to all the award nominations one by one, which I have accumulated in the past two weeks or so. Thanks to my lovely blogger friends for the honor. 🙂

Every individual is different, yet similar. The difference keeps us intrigued and the similarity helps building connections!

This is how it was meant to be. 🙂

It’s all about inspiration. Sometimes I find it within, sometimes in nature or life, sometimes  from my fellow bloggers and the blogging courses or challenges I take. It’s all here, there, everywhere!

Now time to pass on the virtual tour to other blogs. I suppose this is also a time when I should display the Rebel side of me. So going against the rules, I would like to make this an open invitation! I nominate all my fellow bloggers for this award. I think this is a great idea – to have a virtual blog tour. If you have some time, do try answering these questions and carry forward the Award Nomination Tradition. 😉

Write a one-time post next Monday, or whenever you can!

Spread Happiness. ❤

The Ugly “Wall”

When someone asks you to think about walls, what comes into your mind? Before I reveal what hit me when I wondered about walls, lemme tell you I desperately searched my camera album and even browsed through old pictures thinking I might accidentally stumble upon any “wall” picture to share with you guys. But nope, that certainly didn’t happen! Then I realized I never click pictures only of walls (unless there are people standing in front of them!). Although, yes, I might have clicked a few pictures of old walls of archaeological or heritage sites found here in India; I do like a good piece of work, like those beautifully engraved and carefully carved intricate patterns found on the stone walls of The Taj Mahal, Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, etc.
PS: I’m not good at describing those things so pardon me!

Then again what else comes to mind? Well, I kind of took it metaphorically you can say. Walls. Fences. Borders. Man-made barriers. A way of marking a territory.

But what do they really mean? In the real world? Continents, countries, states, cities….everything is divided. Long story short, I don’t like such “walls”. And yes, all borders are ugly. They are just messy.

The India-Pakistan border appears as an orange line in a photo taken by the crew on International Space Station.

Ok, so this is like, even the ALIENS can see the “apparent” divide!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure it looks nice from space, but it is after all, just another border.

fencing constructed along the indo - pakistan border - fao chris

The floodlit border fencing built through the Indian government since 2003 is so bright it can be seen from space

Yeah, so the floodlights are probably good for surveillance and all…. that’s it, I wont say much.

I sometimes wish someone would go back in time and undo all this. And instead of War, just spread Love.

अमन की आशा – Aman Ki Asha (Hope for Peace)

This post was in response to The Daily Post Photo Challenge Prompt : Wall (Share an image of a wall that reveals something about a place, people, or you.)

10 Sentences on Love

Noirfifre invited me to write a post on  “What is Love in ten sentences”. And each sentence should be of 4 words each. She also asked me to sum it up with my favorite quote on Love.

This is a bit of a challenge, what can I say about love which hasn’t been said already and that too with the limitation of 40 words! These are just random thoughts which came to me when I think about Love. According to me, love is the purest and most honest form of emotion which starts with our parents and…oops that’s not how am supposed to put it! So here goes…

Hearts-love-31834306-492-327 Love is God’s Magic
Love’s an Illogical Logic
Love’s Shade in Sunshine
Love is Eternally Divine
Love is Mesmerizing Beauty
Love is Heart’s Rainbow
Love’s a Silent Language
Love is Soul’s Music
Love is Rooted Deep
Love’s All We Need.

Truly, Love cant be contained in words. Love is limitless, boundless and infinite. Love doesn’t require any reason or season to be shown, its just there always.

Now, I have to share my favorite love quote as well. Again a difficult challenge. Being a Quotation Junkie, choosing just a single quote is one hell of a task for me! Luckily I came across this one recently. wpid-screenshot_2015-03-07-02-47-2122.jpg.jpeg

But you asked for a quote…. I really like this one:

Ok so I have completed the challenge. I thank Noir for inviting me, as this post is because of her, otherwise I wouldn’t have done this! 😀

Time to nominate 10-12 other bloggers to spread love on WordPress.

You have to do the same. Write about Love in 10 sentences, 4 words each. Sum it up with your favorite love quote and further nominate other 10-12 bloggers.

Carry on bloggers…..

Keep spreading the love!

🙂 🙂 🙂

Introduction Revisited

So here I am, trying to introduce myself for the 2nd time, coz first attempt was miserable! I am taking Blogging U course for the second time, so just giving it another go. You can read my first Intro post here. But this post (the one you’re reading now) is an edited, elaborated and improved version. 😀

Who am I?

First of all, lemme tell you, I am awkward when it comes to talking about myself. Still am gonna try my best! This is currently an anonymous blog, and I intend to keep it that way at least for the time being. Which means I wont be disclosing my name, but I can certainly tell other few things that describe me. I am a twenty-something simple girl with complex thoughts which always compel me to question – society and its rules, universe and its existence, destiny and its meaning, etc. That’s why I call myself Realist Rebel, so let’s just keep it this way (for the moment) shall we!

I belong to India. I am a foodie, who loves to try out new cuisines. My favourite is Italian. I love to pen down my thoughts (or usually type them out on my phone). Poetry is slowly becoming my passion. My other passion is driving. Love to drive around in my car, especially long drives, playing my favourite songs. Music is my life! Cant live without it! I like reading too, and since I have started blogging I like reading other people’s blog and reading about them. Its kinda fun, to get to know a person without having met them. Always feels great to know about new things. New people, new places, new muses! Doesn’t mean I don’t treasure the old things though! 🙂

Why Am I Here?

My Trysts With Reality (Realist Rebel’s Perception) is the name of my blog. Just tried adding a twist to the otherwise regular life’s rendezvous with the good, bad and ugly ! In short : Realist Rebel questioning life itself, trying to understand it, analyze it and telling it to the world. Hence “my perception”. See the world through my eyes. 🙂

Reasons for blogging :

  • I love writing. I believe writing is the best form of communication.
  • I have thoughts and opinions which I feel needs to be shared.
  • This could be a journey to discover “the unknown side of me”.
  • Poetry : ’cause writing what I feel is not enough. My thoughts should come out wrapped in beautiful words, flying on the wings of a magic carpet….called Imagination.
  • Sometimes all you can do to vent out, is write.
  • Feedback, discussions, communicating with the world, et al. All this can only happen here.
  • Looking forward to read the work of fellow bloggers. We are in this together! Cheers!

I hope this time I have done a better job at writing about myself!

Also you can check out The Monthly Ketch-Up for the previous months to know more what I write about in my blog.

Until Next Time,

Stay Tuned 😉
