The Chase

Ruins - © 2015, Barbara W. Beacham

Where did they go?” asked Tony the gang leader, when suddenly the couple they were chasing vanished into thin air.
“You people are useless, we have to find them before sunset otherwise you all will be dead.” And so all five of his gang members began searching again.
“The only place they can hide,” Tony pointed at the ruins of some old fort in the middle of the valley.

They saw a shelter in the haunted place that looked like an old dome-shaped room. The gang force entered the room, and suddenly, there was a blast. After five minutes, only two people came out.

“We did it! I cant believe they fell for that trap!” said the guy.

“I know babe. This is the best day ever!” replied the girl. “Let’s take their car.”

And off they drove, on the highway to hell.

Headlines later that day:

“After stealing world’s most expensive painting,
the most wanted couple,
still on the run.”

Monday’s Finish The Story. The challenge was to start the story with the given sentence and photo; finishing the story in 100-150 words. Seven words over the limit. Thanks for reading!

The Monthly Ketch-Up

Hello there!

How have you been? I’ve been missing writing for my blog so so much! Feels so great to be back! ^_^

Finally time to do The Monthly Ketch-Up aka Catch-Up of my blog yet again. Like every month, this is gonna be sort of a recap/throwback/flashback of the blog posts I made last month, so that you all can enjoy these posts again or catch-up on those you missed.

Let’s start! 🙂

The Monthly Ketch-Up : May 2015

The 5th month of this blog, and for me it’s been that long of being a blogger. Wow! Well, to begin with, this month I have been a bit lazy or laid back you might say. But sometimes a break is good. You never know, it might turn into some research and stuff too. 😉

Right now, I’m steering clear of all the stats, hardly had a few posts last month. But few turned out well. 😉

Most Popular of the Month

Obviously begin with the best. 😀

The Only Choice : And it’s a flash fiction story written for MFtS challenge. Honestly, this is my favorite too. It almost has all the elements. Well, almost. 😉 You can read and decide yourself.
What is happening in the life of Amaya – the mysterious girl on the beach…

Another flash fiction story for the same challenge

Captain Chronicles : All aboard the ship. Something is fishy. Find out what is bothering the Captain!

More Fiction:

The Danger Sign – Scene 5 : Well this was the 5th installment of the series. But the last one with the flashbacks. Confused? You can always start at the beginning. 😉

Poetry

This month only one poetry post. Not fair, eh? Ok, will do better next month.

Cycle of Recycle : Written for Poetry101Rehab this one is a little tricky. Recycle or Reincarnation or something else? Do find out and read the poem!

Movie Review

You’re Not You (2014) : The movie truly moved me. It’s about an ALS patient (played by Hillary Swank) and her unique bond with her care taker. Very inspiring.

Other:

Friendships, Feelings And MoreMy Perception on different type of friends and Friends’ Relationships; Emotional or Philosophical stuff:

And,

Surprise:

So I talked about a surprise in the last Ketch-up and here it is!!

Smile For Me Baby – (My First Song) : Title explains all. I call it a song rather than a poem since it felt like one and I was sort of singing it out while writing. 😀 So yeah, my first song indeed! I have no idea why I wrote it or for whom, but I just did. Hope someone smiles after reading it! 🙂

For This Month :

Alright people, this was it. For June, expect the final two installments for The Danger Sign, maybe a few more stories and poems.

Keeping it short and sweet.

See you next month,

Enjoy

Much Love,

The Danger Sign – Scene 5

The Danger Sign – Scene 5

*Flashback continues*

The man came closer to me, full of anger.

I cried and cried and cried.

No one came to help. No one came to my rescue.

The man put his hand on my mouth. I tried to shout. I tried to escape, but he grabbed me, still holding the cigarette. Still lit.

I wanted to push that man aside. Wanted to grab that thing out of his hand and throw it away.

It was causing all the trouble.

I wanted to break-free. My tiny little hands were of no use. The gigantic man, with his huge dirty hands, was almost choking me.

I panicked. The smoke had filled the entire stairwell.

“Alright you puny noise-maker, I don’t have any more patience for you. just be quiet now. Promise me you wont shout and wont tell anyone ’bout this (holding up the cigarette), and I’ll let you go.” He finally said with indifference.

Maybe I didn’t listen or didn’t comprehend it soon enough to react, or was just too scared to react at all…..

I had to scream. I screamed my lungs out.

It was the only thing to do in that situation for a little girl who was scared to death.

*Ker-Chack*

Right across my face.

I knew it was coming.

I knew he would hit me.

But I never anticipated, what came next…..

The Danger Sign – Scene 4

*Flashback continues*

It was dark. I couldn’t see. I don’t remember also. But I didn’t know the man, I think. I didn’t even see his face clearly, I could only see an orange spot like light coming from a strange thing in his hand…. It shone bright in the dark, and it took me a while to realise that that orange light was something on fire. It was a burning stick which was the source of the very uncanny abusive white fog like cloud smoke, which I had followed.

Yes, I was so young at that time, I didn’t even know what a cigarette was. Or maybe I had never seen it before in real life. Naive. Innocent.

There I was. In the dark. Scared. Alone. Crying. In some stranger’s place….

The man signalled me to be quiet. I began crying aloud. He again signalled threatening to slap me if I didn’t shush down. It scared me even more and I cried even louder.

The man lost control and temper and maybe his senses too. Or maybe he was already high on the tobacco or nicotine or whatever nasty thing that burning stick holds….

He might have been drunk too, how was a little kid supposed to know?

The Danger Sign – Scene 3

It was a cold winter night. I couldn’t sleep as we were staying at a family friend’s place. I decided to check out the house. I shouldn’t have.
On the way to the terrace, I noticed something fog like, approaching towards me.
I followed the white cloud to see where it was coming from; wanted to catch it.

There he was. That man, standing beside the stairwell entrance.
As I went closer, I began coughing. And crying too, was just a kid after all.
A stupid little kid.

The man saw me, watching him.

The Danger Sign – Scene 2

I took a step back. My mouth opened a bit in shock and horror. Frozen. The memories began to flash in front of my eyes. Ugly, evil memories which remain etched on me like invisible scars.

Unknowingly, I kept moving backwards until there wasn’t any space left. I turned around to find a mirror blocking my way. Hoping to see my reflection, I tried to clear it with my hand, but I could only see a blurred image of a familiar, scared little girl who seemed lost.

This is in continuation to a 50 word story ‘The Danger Sign’ (Ash Tray) written by me earlier. Find it here. (yup, that would be scene 1)

The More You See, The Less You Know

Have you ever wondered, if we wouldn’t have been living this life, then where we would have been?

This question strikes almost every inquisitive mind once in a lifetime.

Perhaps the question is wrong in itself. Instead, we should ask ourselves, are we really where we actually belong?

Are we there yet?

Thought provoking thought, isn’t it?! It’s quite amusing to wonder about as well. This would all make sense only if someone found the answers; if not all, then at least some of them.

As someone aptly said:

“the problem is not the problem; the problem is our attitude towards the problem.”

Hence, try changing your attitude once, who knows, you might finally find that all your answers were lying around in front of you – exactly where you have been looking (too closely to even notice) before.

ESCAPE PLAN (2013)

ESCAPE PLAN (2013) – Review

Stallone, Schwarzenegger

The plot looks brilliant. Stallone is an escape master/genius/expert. He can escape any and every prison ever built by man. He has a record of escaping 14 prisons till now.  This is done to check the authenticity and whether or not every prison in the country, escape proof.

He takes up a new mission where everything is a secret. None of his allies know his location since its a highest security secret prison which is apparently not government run and is privately funded (“the shadow world”).

That prison looks unbelievable. The most high tech prison ever – one could say. Everything looks amazing and scary. Everything is computerized and only has electronic access. The prisoners are kept in a small cubicle which is entirely transparent.  Even the dress worn by the prisoners has a barcode on it! Guards wear masks, warden doesn’t. Basically, its the new age hell with all the gadgets and weapons you can think of…more like it seems like real people are trapped in a video game! Nobody could or would be able to get out of there by the looks of it….at least not alive!! But then enters Schwarzenegger, half an hour into the movie, and oh boy, what an entry! The game is about to change.

What follows is a number of failed attempts to get out of the man made inferno, which is by far the most complicated and complex puzzle ever for Stallone. He has no outside help, hence no points for guessing, Schwarzenegger becomes the help. A mysterious thriller ride showcasing various torture methods, prison life, and ways to escape, also telling the basic escape plan which can be applied anywhere.

Since we already know its a trap set up for Stallone to keep him there forever, its gonna be worth a watch to see whether he manages to get out alone or with Schwarzenegger. Or even manages to get out of there ever. Surely a surprise element is waiting for you…

Great storyline, nicely directed, background score keeps you hooked on, brilliant acting undoubtedly, and the suspense? Well, you will end up saying “didn’t see that coming!” just like Stallone!!…

A must watch, if you find mystery/thriller kind of flicks interesting. 7 out of 10.
