The Chase

Ruins - © 2015, Barbara W. Beacham

Where did they go?” asked Tony the gang leader, when suddenly the couple they were chasing vanished into thin air.
“You people are useless, we have to find them before sunset otherwise you all will be dead.” And so all five of his gang members began searching again.
“The only place they can hide,” Tony pointed at the ruins of some old fort in the middle of the valley.

They saw a shelter in the haunted place that looked like an old dome-shaped room. The gang force entered the room, and suddenly, there was a blast. After five minutes, only two people came out.

“We did it! I cant believe they fell for that trap!” said the guy.

“I know babe. This is the best day ever!” replied the girl. “Let’s take their car.”

And off they drove, on the highway to hell.

Headlines later that day:

“After stealing world’s most expensive painting,
the most wanted couple,
still on the run.”

Classic Bob Everyday

“Beautiful day to walk in the garden.” Bob seemed to think when he jumped up at me at 6 in the morning. Bob likes to give surprises as much as he loves to receive them. Bob who? Oh I didn’t tell you? Bob is my dog. Bob is a sweetheart. We got him from the pound. Everybody there used to call him that so we decided we will keep the name. He loves to hear his name too.

“Ok ok I’m up. Stop making a mess Bob.” At last, I gave in. “Don’t know what possessed this dog today, so much energy?” I thought.

“Out of the room now. I’m coming. Stay away from the study table or else you’ll spill the ink…” And it’s already done.

Bob ran out of the room; he knew he would get a scolding otherwise.

10 minutes later, I had to let him out. He was continuously barking at the door and the window alternately.

Must be the mail man. Bob hates that guy. Once he chased the mail man around the block for an hour. The mail man wears skates now.

I let him out and then went to the kitchen to get some food for both of us.

Thankfully there were some left over pan-cakes. I reheated them and ate them with maple syrup.

“Better wash this plate or else Bob would come looking for it.” I told myself.

After taking some dog-food for him, I went outside to check the mail box. But it was empty. And Bob was still barking at frequent intervals.

“Look at you sitting here comfortably. Why are you barking at the tree? Yeah you wont tell I know. Classic Bob.”

After looking around a bit, I finally spotted a Blue-Jay bird sitting on the middle branch.

“Oh boy! That bird is so gorgeous! Been a while, haven’t spotted one of these in a long time. Come on Bob, leave the Blue-Jay alone. The poor bird will not steal your food!”

Ok, time’s up. Otherwise, I was gonna tell you about The Big Bang Theory Episode where Sheldon is afraid of birds (Blue-Jay was at his window.) Sheldon tried to scare the bird away by making cat sounds and drawings. Then tries to keep it as a pet but it eventually flies away.

In this story, I was gonna tell you, Bob would have been compared to Sheldon, which Bob doesn’t like and when he is still not able to scare the bird away, I would have said: “I knew I should’ve gotten a cat.” 😉

Yeah, and Bob Cat sounds so much better than Bob Dog, doesn’t it? 😀

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “A Dog Named Bob.”
Challenge: You have 20 minutes to write a post that includes the words mailbox, bluejay, plate, syrup, and ink. And one more detail… the story must include a dog named Bob.

Captain Chronicles

2015-05-18-bw-beacham1 The crew of the Angel Flame received orders to head out. It was a regular day. The ocean was rather quiet than usual. So the crew decided to fulfill the orders immediately as they wanted to get back before Christmas eve.

Few hours after leaving the harbor, captain saw something he couldn’t believe. He panicked and informed the crew that they are heading back. Just to be sure of what he saw, he called the co captain.

“Tell me Parker, what do you see?”

“It’s hard to say sir, the distance is huge. Could be some sort of mirage.”

“Come on! There are lives at stake here. Don’t play your stupid games. Hurry.”

“No sir. With all due respect, I’d say, we should explore. I don’t see any danger.”

“You insane? You’re telling me there’s nothing wrong with a green Hawaiian-like island with dinosaur creatures roaming around, right in the middle of Antarctica? Huh?” Shouted the captain, whilst turning the ship back.

The Only Choice

2015-05-11-bw-beacham

Arriving at the beach, she reflected on her life. Nothing seemed to distract her – the warm breeze, the tidal waves or the noisy pelicans – none of them. It was a fairly beautiful day but not for Amaya. She couldn’t care less.

Her life choices had always been made for her. She never got to choose. This was a new territory for her – of having a choice. Scared to the core, thinking about what will happen next, has left her completely baffled.

Now if only she could ascertain whether to go back to the life of petty crime or to surrender herself for the murder she never committed. Tough first choice.

Choice to save herself or the person who has been controlling her life since forever.

Deep in thoughts, she was staring into nothingness of the horizon. Suddenly her chain of thoughts were disrupted by a cute german shepherd, who came looking for its frisbee which got stuck in the branches of a big tree standing tall behind the rocks.

For a minute, Amaya forgot all about her tensions and started petting the canine. “Hey big guy! What are you doing here? Go play near the water.” Pointing to the frisbee, the dog communicated what it wanted. Amaya got the frisbee, looked at the happy go lucky dog, kissed him goodbye and threw the frisbee as far as she could.

Just as she watched the german shepherd bounce toward the flying saucer, carefree, enjoying the moment, she got up, held her head high with determination and with a big smile on her face, she took the first step toward her freedom.

Find Your Flavour

flavour_wheel

Sugar or Spice

Everything may not be nice

Whether you like it or not

Flavours have captured our lives.

Spice it up in the bedroom

Sugar coat your words for the boss

Leave bitterness for the enemy

Show your salty side to the neighbors

Sweet n sour bond with the relatives

Fire chillies during fight with siblings

Sweet, Salty and Tangy

A friend alternates between many flavours

But only one relation

Where you can enjoy

All the flavours together

A Soul Mate

Found Yours?? 😀

The Follow Game (Monday’s Finish The Story)

2015-04-20-bw-beacham

They followed the buffaloes and their babies along the trail heading into the woods; completely unaware that they were being followed too. After a while, they reached near the bushes behind the lake where the buffaloes gathered: a few were drinking lake water, some bathing, others resting.

The Wild-Life Channel crew didn’t set their equipment just as yet, because they were waiting for the buffaloes and calves to visit the natural  ‘mineral lick’ site. Not many are able to capture that rare phenomenon. So they waited. Patiently. Still oblivion of their followers.

There was a sudden uneasiness with the buffaloes and they started to move. The crew got alert and heard the presence of some wild animals behind them.

Before the pack of wolves could attack, the director (being a smarty pants) threw all the steaks they had brought, in front of the wolves. The crew got time to run for their lives. ‘Documentary on the American Bison’ delayed yet again.

No. Just No.

downloadIsayNO

What it means to say No

What it’s like to break a heart

To tell someone they won’t get what they want.

How to say No to someone in Need

Someone who is close indeed.

No. No is just a word when You Say it.

No is like the shutting of a door

For the one who gets to hear it.

They will have to look for another

And suffer some more.

Everything every time cannot be a yes

There has to be a No

A place or world without No

Is a place which doesn’t exist.

Or does it

It existed for me.

I was too afraid

To say No:

When that little word

Became that horrible feeling

Of breaking someone’s heart.

I was too afraid

To say No:

When I didn’t wanna lose the person.

I was too afraid

To say No:

When I thought

If the person hears it

They are never coming back.

Maybe

Maybe not.

But if that were to be

I was better off without.

Wish I knew it sooner

But now also

I am too afraid

To say No.

I don’t say No

When I don’t wanna break No hearts

Simply because I Know the feeling

I Know the pain

I Know No.

In The End, At Last.

Perceptions and Perspectives

Universe and You

For Eternity

Infinity and Beyond

Lies or No Lies

Commit and Remit

Through and Through

End of an Era

Beginning of a New Millennium

Always Save the Best for Last

As in the End, It Does Matter

Make it work
Make it worth
Mend your ways
Mind your days
Going through hell
Living in heaven

Let’s walk a mile
Wanna see you smile
So don’t be late
Gonna fight this fate

The end is near
But I have no fear

Death can wait
Coz I have you as my date

So give me this chance
To live my life
One last chance
To love my life
Give me this time
To relive my life
In just One Day
One Last Day
One Last Day

Thaw or Not To Thaw

One two ten

I am lost again

Why won’t thou understand

‘Tis not ’bout being sad

‘Tis thy coldness

Not mine frozen heart

‘Tis thy sheer ignorance

Making everything fall apart

Thou walking on thin ice

Showeth thou shall rise

Thaw Thy Ego

Then come see

Let it all go

If it were meant to be

50 Word Stories

My Lucky Charm

“You gotta hold my hand always?” Angrily, Suzy pushed Kyle away.
Realizing a car was approaching from behind, she pulled him back, hugged him and said, “Oh my God! I’m so sorry Kyle.”

“That’s why I’ve to hold your hand; to say how lucky I’m to have you.” Said Kyle.

The Beach

People think night-life on the beach is so glamorous. The night parties, crackling sound of bonfire, couples dancing and singing around it: what’s not to like!

But if they saw me sitting here on this rock, all by myself, then I’d like to know, how glamorous does this look?

(Prompt: Crackle)
